Rivers
There are 3 rivers in Biral upazila. The rivers are:

1. Punarbhaba river
    Punarbhaba Bangladesh - A cross-border river of India. It is a river of Dinajpur district of northwestern Bangladesh              
    and south Dinajpur district of West Bengal. The length of the river is 223 kilometers, the average width is 102 meters   
    and the nature of the river is spiral. Brahmanpur Barindabhumi, the ancient source of the Poonurboba river.

2. Tangan river
It is a tributary of Punarbhaba river. Originating from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, India, it has entered Bangladesh through the western border of Panchagarh district of Bangladesh. It goes back to West Bengal by Panchagarh, ThakurgaonPiriganj, Ruhia, and Bochaganj and Biral upazilas of Dinajpur district. This river again enters Bangladesh through the Bangababari union of Gomastapur upazila and meets the Punarbhaba river. Although the water of these rivers decreases in winter, the rainy season is suitable for navigation. Thakurgaon is situated on the bank of the Tangan River. In 1989, a barrage was built in Tangan river, ten kilometers west of Baoda upazila of Panchagarh district. Through this, irrigation can be made in about 5,000 hectares of different thana of Panchagarh and Thakurgaon districts.
